The work of the Office of Ethnic Affairs focuses on people whose culture and traditions distinguish them from the majority in New Zealand. As part of this work it sponsors
- Diversity Stage at the ASB Polyfest in Auckland, to provide a platform for cross-cultural and inter-cultural community participation, in particular interaction between Maori, Pacific and ethnic communities
- Sponsors community festivals like Chinese New Year, and the Diwali Lights Festival
- Creates opportunities for Ethnic communities to dialogue on cultural well-being.
The Office is part of the Department of Internal Affairs.
