The new provisions for Long Term Council Community Plans (LTCCPs), now provide a legal pathway for the preparation of strategies for the tourism sector or for the individual activities local authorities will undertake in relation to tourism.

The Creating Communities Kit has been developed by the Local Government Association of South Australia, Arts South Australia and Country Arts SA. The project undertook an audit of Local Government involvement in arts and cultural activities and prepared a draft policy for the LGA, guidelines for Councils to develop and maintain arts and cultural policy, policy story sheets and good practice story sheets.

Local authorities participate in heritage management in various ways. These include preparation of district plans and policy statements under the RMA, statutory processes, partnerships, strategic direction, and the public interest roles. They also manage historic heritage in areas for which they are responsible (eg regional parks).

This Long Term Council Community Plan (LTCCP) has been prepared in accordance with Section 93 of the Local Government Act 2002. It is a 10-year planning document outlining community outcomes for the district and Council's role in furthering them.
