Community outcomes are a desired state or ideal that the community identifies and believes is important for its present and future wellbeing. Under the Local Government Act 2002, councils are required to facilitate a process to identify the desired community outcomes and priorities for their communities once every six years.

The Long Term Council Community Plan is a document that sets out the direction for the district for the next ten years.

The Community Outcomes were created by the people of the Opotiki District with the help of Opotiki District Council. There are seven clear goals that when combined, create a picture of how we, the community, want our district to be in the year 2016 and beyond.

Managing our district is a responsibility we all have, not just for ourselves but for future generations. To do this effectively we require a long term vision and a plan we can all work towards.

Community Outcomes in the Plan are what the Community believes to be important towards its current and future social, economic, environmental and cultural well being.

In a nutsell the Long Term Plan, which we are required to review every three years, outlines the finer points of why Council is doing things, what work will be completed over the next 10 years and what it will cost.

A community plan for the next 20 years.

Ko ahau a Maketu – Ko Maketu ahau; We are Maketu – Maketu is us. This is the 20-year Plan for the future of Maketu

This 20 year plan has been developed by the people of Te Puke and will be used as a blueprint for the community to use; showing the direction the community wants to go and how it plans to get there.

In the Te Puke 20 year Long Term Plan, the people of Te Puke said they wanted a town centre ‘that becomes the heart of our community—a place we can feel proud of, that reflects out vision of a country town with a business heart’.

This plan represents the community's views on how Te Puna should look in the future.  It is not a technical document backed by research, surveys and planning precedent, but rather a starting point for the community to express its aspirations.

Waihi Beach – Defining our Future is the 20-year Plan for the future of the Waihi Beach ward. Adopted in August 2007, this Plan is the result of many months of work undertaken by the Community. The Plan was built on input from residents and ratepayers on a range of issues; including land use, the area’s economy, natural environment, recreation, community facilities and culture.

A plan for the Rangitikei District that shows how leisure can enhance the quality of life and sense of place for residents of the district, and how community organisations can contribute.

This is the first report on progress towards achieving the Community Outcomes, which were identified by the community during 2005 for the 2006-16 Long Term Council Community Plan.

All Council's are required, under the Local Government Act 2002, to have a Long Term Council Community Plan. The Plan provides a long-term focus for the activities and decisions of Council.

Council must produce a LTP every three years with a minimum of a ten-year focus. As such, this LTP sets out Ruapehu District Council's intended work programme in detail for the next three years, and in general for the following seven.

The Council must at all times have a long term council community plan under Section 93(1) of the Local Government Act 2002.

Hamilton is a wonderful city and a great place to live. This Recreation and Leisure Plan is a strategy document that aims to help Hamilton's community and its visitors enjoy it at its best. Through the development of partnerships, there will be even greater opportunities to be active and together we will build a happier, healthier and more vibrant community.
