The 2006-16 Long-Term Plan is Council's primary long-term strategic planning document that describes how it wants Hamilton to develop over the next 10 years.

The City Heart Revitalisation Project builds on this former work and aims to create a safe, vibrant and distinctive city heart for Hamilton and to produce physical spaces that reflect Hamilton's unique identity.

The Claudelands Events Centre redevelopment project has been designed on the basis of a unique one-site, multi-zoned facility with strong connectivity and close proximity to Hamilton's CBD. This major upgrade and redevelopment is a milestone project for the city and an exciting new feature on the trans-Tasman map of event and conference destinations.

www.myhamilton.org.nz is a website designed to encourage the exchange of your ideas and visions for Hamilton.  Sharing these ideas has led to the development of Community Outcomes for the city and potentially better coordination of services to the community.

Art is clearly visible all over the District.  From the corrugated iron art in Tirau and the murals and mosaics in Putaruru, to the Talking Poles in Tokoroa... art is a way of life in this District.

The South Waikato District Council views culture as "the spirit of the community" and arts as "the expression of that spirit."

The purpose of the Tirau Concept Plan is to guide planning by the Tirau Community Board, Tirau Business Association, Council and the local community in an integrated way. It is a "living document" that will be updated in 2008 and again in 2011, including opportunities to submit new proposals for consideration.

The purpose of the Local Area Concept Plan is to capture the shared vision of local communities to enable integrated planning for the District as a whole. Local planning contributes towards "towns we are proud of", which has been identified as a key Community Outcome for the South Waikato District.

Council  adopted its Long Term Plan 2006-16 on 10 July 2006.  This plan looks at projects, plans and progress over the next 10 years.

Community Outcomes are intended to help guide groups, organisations and Councils that contribute to the wellbeing of the community by giving direction on the aspirations and priorities of the community.

Rotorua - A great place to be young, where young people are vibrant and optimistic through being supported and encouraged to take up challenges.

This plan aims to prioritise artwork opportunities and initiatives so that funding can be allocated appropriately. It will also assist with identifying potential locations for artwork gifts to Christchurch City.

A long-term plan is a Council's contract with its residents that describes how it intends to achieve the community's goals and the city's long-term goals with the resources available to it.

Council are currently developing a vision to ensure Christchurch is New Zealand's best city to live in. Aquatic facilities contribute to achieving this vision along with the community outcomes and the strategic directions of Council.

The plan is designed to guide the future development of Christchurch City Libraries' buildings through to 2025.

The Draft Metropolitan Sports Facilities Plan is a city-wide plan to guide the Christchurch City Council's future role and investment in metropolitan sporting facilities during the next 20 years. These are facilities which provide benefits and services for sport at a city-wide, national and international level.

In developing this long term, ten year plan, Council and staff have endeavoured to identify the key issues and opportunities ahead, and to establish appropriate longer term strategies and action plans to address them.

The creation of a community based vision and an opportunity for individuals to have a direct input into shaping the future of their town.

We believe it is imperative to the future of Hanmer Springs thatany new development occurs in a way that protects and builds on the resources that are valued by the people who live in and visit the township and surrounding basin. On this basis Sinclair Knight Merz and Patrick Partners were engaged to review the development of Hanmer Springs and provide a future "vision" for urban and rural growth, which promoted design techniques and treatments to build on the alpine character of the area.

This is the second long term plan produced by this Council under the provisions of the Local Government Act 2002 and covers the ten years from 1 July 2006 to 30 June 2016.
