Councils approach to Heritage Issues under the RMA.

The purpose of this strategy is to promote the health and fitness benefits of walking and cycling and reduce the negative impacts of motor vehicles.

Waitakere City Events

The purpose of the Leisure Facility Partnership Fund is for the Council to strategically direct capital development assistance to community leisure and sporting projects and to secure access to facilities for community use.

The Council is required to produce and regularly update a Long Term Council Community Plan, which sets out a planning process for 10 years ahead to deliver clear goals that have been agreed between the Council and the Community.

Massey Matters is a new long term project aimed at improving quality of life in Massey. Council has initiated the project and wants to work alongside the local community and other partners to: build and strengthen community activity, networks and sense of local identity and pride in Massey and to improve the way Massey looks and feels and functions

There is a strong sense of pride in Waitakere. Our approach is cross cultural, recognising the place of Tangata Whenua and the diverse nature of the communities living in our City. The “Waitakere Way” is about people working together, and community supporting community. It’s also about new ideas and new approaches to solving some of our shared wellbeing issues and problems.

The purpose of the Youth Programme Fund is to assist organisations providing regular programmes for youth aged between 13 and 20 years.

eResources is Waitakere Libraries collection of online databases and locally produced resources.

The objective of the Bill is to recognise the national, regional and local importance of the Waitakere ranges, foothills and coastal areas and to promote long term protection and enhancement of this area and its important heritage features for present and future generations while enabling the area to be lived and worked in.

It aims to give our young people, access to all the support services, advice and ideas they need to harness their strengths and make the transition from school to their futures by linking them to the worlds of work, training and education.

Long Term Council Community Plan

Principal Goal: To position Oamaru as the hub of the Waitaki District based on its unique identity and the District's heritage, cultural and natural attractions.

The purpose of community visioning days is to develop a shared vision for the future for each of the district's townships or clusters of townships.

In order to gather information on the process and implications of gaining World Heritage Status for Oamaru, the World Heritage work stream of the Culture and Heritage Implementation Group (CHimp) commissioned this report.

Nominations are called for each year from people who "have made a significant contribution to the well-being of the Waitaki District and its citizens".
