This Policy aims to match art works to appropriate spaces within Council buildings. The first priority will be displaying art works in key public spaces such as the buildings around the Civic Square, before considering other Council facilities with high public visibility.

The Council provides nearly 3 million dollars annual funding as part of the Annual Plan in order to meet identified needs within the Wellington City community.

At least once every three years, Council is required under the Local Government Act 2002, to produce a Long Term Council Community Plan.

Transit New Zealand, West Coast Councils and other agencies are working together to develop a regional walking and cycling strategy. The strategy aims to identify the level of walking and cycling already happening in the region, as well as establish the issues and future needs for increasing walking and cycling activity.

Discretionary Community Grants provide financial assistance to community groups or individuals who are working for the benefit of the public.
