We have prepared a 2006 - 2016 Long Term Council / Community Plan as required by the Local Government Act 2002.  We have named our Plan the Central Hawke's Bay Community Plan.  It sets the direction for Central Hawke's Bay over the next ten years.

When Council sought the community's aspirations for the district and the priorities of actions over the next 10 years back in 2003, one of the concerns raised was the need to protect heritage sites from inappropriate development and population pressure.

The community's preferred outcome was to see heritage valued and celebrated and to be an integral part of Central's identity.

Central Otago Physical Activity Strategy

Central Otago District Council, Sport Otago, Public Health South and the Central Otago Principals Association (stakeholders) have worked collaboratively to develop a physical activity strategy for the Central Otago District as defined by the District Council boundaries. The project is being largely funded by SPARC.
