Cultural well-being strategies and policies

These Toolkits were developed as 'how-to guides' to assist local governments, arts, cultural and heritage organizations with the processes of cultural planning and cultural mapping, and the development of public art projects and programs.  The Toolkits were produced by the Creative City Network of Canada in partnership with 2010 Legacies Now and the Department of Canadian Heritage.

The Department of Conservation works with iwi and hapu in almost all aspects of its work. Pou Kura Taiao in each conservancy stay in close contact with Maori communities

The Department of Conservation works to a range of plans, strategies and agreements which set out goals, actions and directions for management work and strategic directions.

The forum includes topics such as public policy, interfaith, language, health, Treaty, etc, and professional forums (researchers, librarians, museums, local government etc).

This strategy reflects an underlying belief that the arts are valued by and valuable for our community. As a community we will benefit from ongoing development of the arts, artists and its audiences.

The Arts Strategy identifies the key outcomes for the Arts sector focused around community participation, city promotion, cultural diversity, and economic, community and amenity development.

A Strategy to advance walking, cycling and other forms of active transport within the Southland region.

The Art in Public Places Policy sets guidelines for the role of art in public places of Dunedin.

The key objectives of the Arts and Culture Policy are:

1.  To develop and promote Dunedin as an environment that encourages, facilitates, and embraces expressions of its communities' culture.

2.  To preserve and enhance Dunedin's many and varied cultural and heritage resources, and to ensure that opportunities to participate are available to all and predominantly free.
