Cultural well-being strategies and policies

The Cycling Strategy aims to improve the safety and attractiveness of cycling, and increase the number of cycling trips, through the following 5 key areas: Infrastructure, promotion, safety and education, co-ordination and resources.

This strategy sets out the vision and goals for the sustainable management of Dunedin's heritage.

The purpose of this policy is to guide future Dunedin City Council actions and recommend appropriate courses of action to other organisations in order to improve the quality of life for older people in Dunedin.

The strategy's vision is:

The vision for play in Dunedin is that 'All children have access to, and participate in, the range of play opportunities offered in Dunedin'.

The Dunedin City Council Young Person's Policy/Hui Rangatahi is specifically developed around young people between the ages of 10 and 25 years who reside in the greater Dunedin city area.  It has been developed to realise the vision of our city "Dunedin, it's all right here", for young people, their families and the wider Community.

Community Outcomes are all about the state of the region for the next generation to live, work and play in.  If we want to create the best future we can for them, we need to have a clear vision so we can work towards it.

The Draft Regional Walking and Cycling Strategy covers safety, access and mobility, infrastructure and strategic planning. It also proposes a Regional Cycling Network, which identifies a series of cycle routes across the Bay of Plenty.

These are the outcomes that the Canterbury community has decided are a priority in terms of the present and future social, economic, environmental and cultural well-being of the community.

Environment Canterbury's Community Plan sets the direction for the council's planning for activities over the next 10 years. The plan reflects the significant challenges that the region is facing in sustainable environmental management, particularly in relation to water and air resources. The plan is based on regional community outcomes which have been identified in conjunction with other organisations and agencies with a stake in Canterbury's future. The outcomes consider the social, economic, environmental and cultural well-being of the community and reflect local priorities.
